About the role
We're partnering with a leading AI research initiative to bring deep transaction advisory expertise into the development of next-generation AI reasoning systems. This is a unique opportunity for experienced M&A, valuation, and due diligence professionals to translate real-world deal experience into structured training material that teaches AI models to think and reason like seasoned deal teams.
Rather than performing traditional advisory work, you'll be shaping how AI understands complex financial transactions — from quality-of-earnings analysis to purchase price allocations — helping build systems that can eventually support (not replace) the judgment of experienced practitioners.
What you'll do
- Design realistic, high-fidelity scenarios drawn from your professional experience, including quality-of-earnings (QoE) analyses, working capital and net debt adjustments, and deal structuring considerations
- Construct structured problem sets and model responses covering financial due diligence, business valuation methodologies (DCF, comparable companies, precedent transactions), and purchase accounting under ASC 805
- Review and grade AI-generated outputs for technical accuracy, reasoning quality, and alignment with how real deal professionals approach these problems
- Write detailed rationales and correction notes to help refine model reasoning on complex transaction advisory topics
- Collaborate with a distributed team of subject-matter experts and AI researchers to continuously improve training data quality
- Flag edge cases, ambiguities, or areas where standard practice varies across firms or jurisdictions
Requirements
- Substantial hands-on experience in M&A advisory, transaction services, financial due diligence, or business valuation
- Strong command of quality-of-earnings analysis, working capital mechanics, net debt adjustments, and deal economics
- Familiarity with valuation methodologies (DCF, market multiples, precedent transactions) and purchase accounting (ASC 805)
- Excellent written communication skills — ability to explain complex financial reasoning clearly and precisely
- Comfort working independently in a remote, deadline-driven environment
- Prior experience at an accounting firm, investment bank, valuation firm, or corporate transaction team preferred
- CFA, CPA, ASA, or similar professional credential is a plus but not required
Compensation
This is a flexible, remote, project-based engagement paying $80–$120 per hour depending on experience and scope of work.
