About the role
We're looking for a sharp, composed communicator to join our emergency response network as a remote Ambulance Dispatcher / Emergency Communications Specialist. You'll be the critical link between callers, field crews, and medical teams — triaging incoming requests, coordinating ambulance resources, and keeping every channel of communication clear and accurate, even when things get intense. This role is ideal for someone who thrives under pressure, follows protocol precisely, and can juggle multiple live channels without losing composure.
What you'll do
- Receive and triage incoming emergency and non-emergency transport requests, prioritizing based on severity and standardized protocols
- Communicate clearly and concisely across radio, phone, and chat channels with field crews, callers, and medical facilities
- Monitor and manage multiple simultaneous communication channels, ensuring no request is delayed or missed
- Apply established dispatch protocols and checklists consistently to ensure safety and compliance
- Coordinate ambulance and crew assignments in real time based on location, availability, and urgency
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation of all dispatch activity
- Escalate critical or ambiguous situations to supervisors or medical control as needed
- Stay calm and effective during high-volume or high-stress periods
Requirements
- Proven experience in dispatch, emergency communications, call center triage, or a similarly high-pressure coordination role
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and efficiently
- Demonstrated ability to multitask across several live channels (phone, radio, chat) simultaneously
- Strong ability to prioritize and triage competing requests under time pressure
- Comfort following and applying standardized protocols, checklists, and escalation procedures
- Reliable internet connection and a quiet, distraction-free remote work environment
- Availability for shift-based scheduling, including potential nights/weekends
- Nice to have: prior experience in EMS, 911/emergency services, healthcare logistics, or air traffic-style coordination roles
Compensation
This role pays between $30 and $55 per hour, depending on experience and demonstrated performance during onboarding. Engagement is remote and flexible, with shift-based scheduling.
What we're looking for
- Prioritization and triage under pressure
- Clear and concise multi-channel communication
- Simultaneous multitasking across channels
- Protocol and checklist adherence
- Emergency resource coordination
- Crisis composure
