About the role
We're building a network of credentialed actuaries to help shape the next generation of AI systems. Frontier AI models are increasingly asked to reason through complex quantitative and financial problems, and actuarial expertise is essential to making sure those systems get it right. In this role, you'll apply your pricing, reserving, valuation, or modeling background to create, review, and grade high-quality evaluation and training data that teaches AI systems to reason like an expert actuary.
This is fully remote, fully asynchronous work — you set your own hours and work from anywhere in the world. No client-facing deliverables, no client meetings — just deep, expert-level problem writing and evaluation.
What you'll do
- Design realistic actuarial problems spanning pricing, reserving, valuation, and financial/risk modeling scenarios
- Draft detailed, technically rigorous model solutions with clear step-by-step reasoning
- Evaluate AI-generated responses to actuarial prompts for technical accuracy, methodology, and clarity
- Write structured feedback and rationale explaining why a response is correct, incomplete, or flawed
- Flag ambiguous, unrealistic, or low-quality prompts and suggest improvements
- Collaborate asynchronously with a distributed team of subject-matter experts across finance and risk domains
Requirements
- SOA or CAS credential (ASA, FSA, ACAS, or FCAS) — or substantial exam progress (3+ actuarial exams passed)
- 2+ years of professional actuarial experience in pricing, reserving, valuation, or modeling
- Strong written communication skills; ability to explain technical reasoning clearly and precisely
- Comfort working independently in a remote, async environment with minimal oversight
- Attention to detail and rigor when evaluating quantitative work
**Nice to have:**
- Experience with life, health, P&C, or pension actuarial specialties
- Prior exposure to AI/ML evaluation, tutoring, technical writing, or curriculum development
- Familiarity with actuarial software or modeling tools (Excel/VBA, R, Python, SQL, AXIS, Prophet, GGY, ResQ, etc.)
Compensation
This role pays $80–$150/hour depending on credential level, experience, and demonstrated performance during onboarding. Work is hourly, flexible, and fully asynchronous — take on as much or as little as fits your schedule.
