Child & Adolescent Safeguarding Specialist – Exploitation Risk & Clinical Review Expert

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Child & Adolescent Safeguarding Specialist to support high-stakes clinical review work focused on identifying, assessing, and escalating cases involving child and adolescent safety, exploitation risk, and developmental vulnerability. This is a remote, expert-level engagement for professionals who bring rigorous clinical judgment and lived expertise in safeguarding frameworks to sensitive case review, risk staging, and escalation decision-making.

You will work on structured review tasks that require careful, evidence-based reasoning about risk severity, consent, developmental capacity, and appropriate intervention pathways — contributing directly to systems and processes designed to protect vulnerable young people.

What you'll do

• Review case materials and apply clinical reasoning to assess safeguarding concerns involving children and adolescents
• Conduct structured risk assessments and assign severity staging based on established safeguarding criteria
• Identify indicators of exploitation, abuse, neglect, or coercion across a range of case scenarios
• Exercise sound judgment regarding consent, developmental stage, and capacity in ambiguous or complex situations
• Determine appropriate escalation pathways and document rationale clearly and defensibly
• Provide intervention recommendations grounded in best-practice safeguarding standards
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine assessment protocols and improve case review consistency
• Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical and professional standards throughout all review work

Requirements

• Demonstrated professional background in child/adolescent safeguarding, clinical social work, psychology, pediatrics, forensic assessment, or a closely related field
• Strong clinical reasoning and risk assessment skills, with the ability to apply structured severity staging frameworks
• Practical experience identifying exploitation risk and navigating complex consent/developmental capacity judgments
• Familiarity with safeguarding escalation protocols and multi-agency referral pathways
• Excellent written communication skills for clear, defensible case documentation
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound ethical judgment, and handle sensitive material with discretion
• Comfortable working remotely on a flexible, project-based schedule

Compensation

Hourly rate of $45–$95, commensurate with experience and case complexity. Flexible, remote engagement with ongoing project-based work.
