About the role
We're looking for detail-oriented individuals with strong anatomical knowledge—students or professionals in Anatomy, Medicine, or Physiotherapy—to help build high-quality datasets used to train and evaluate computer vision models. You'll apply your understanding of human musculoskeletal structure, joint articulation, and hand/finger topology to annotate and quality-check images and video frames with precision. This is a remote, flexible-hours opportunity ideal for people who enjoy meticulous visual work and want to apply their medical/anatomical background outside a traditional clinical setting.
What you'll do
- Annotate human body landmarks, joints, and hand keypoints on images and video frames following mediapipe-style hand topology and skeletal reference standards
- Apply anatomical expertise to identify correct joint positions, range-of-motion boundaries, and plausible vs. implausible poses
- Perform quality assurance reviews on annotations submitted by other contributors, flagging inconsistencies or anatomical inaccuracies
- Exercise visual reasoning to resolve ambiguous cases (occlusions, unusual angles, motion blur) using anatomical judgment
- Follow detailed labeling protocols, style guides, and evolving annotation specifications with high consistency
- Provide structured feedback to help refine annotation guidelines and edge-case handling
- Maintain accuracy and throughput targets while working independently in a remote setting
Requirements
- Background in Anatomy, Medicine, Physiotherapy, Kinesiology, or a closely related field (student status acceptable)
- Strong working knowledge of human skeletal and hand anatomy, including joint mechanics and range of motion
- Prior experience with data annotation, labeling tools, or visual QA work is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to spot subtle inconsistencies in images/video
- Comfort working with structured protocols, style guides, and iterative feedback loops
- Reliable internet connection and a computer capable of running annotation/QA software
- Strong written communication for documenting edge cases and QA notes
Compensation
Hourly rate of $15–$80, based on experience level, annotation speed, and QA accuracy. Flexible, remote, part-time or full-time engagement available.
What we're looking for
- Human anatomy expertise
- Image and video annotation
- Hand/finger topology (mediapipe-style)
- Visual reasoning
- Quality assurance
- Attention to detail
- Protocol adherence
- Pose and joint analysis
